Blessed by Good Genes: The Compact City

San Marcos is uniquely blessed. Unlike its big city neighbors to the north (Austin) and south (San Antonio), San Marcos has a compact city footprint. That means that a critical portion of its growth can occur without urban sprawl.

Walkability—a privilege of life actively enjoyed by those who lived here before us—remains alive and well in this community. From Lindsey Hill (and portions of the historic neighborhoods surrounding Lindsey Hill), residents can walk or bike to shopping, employment, worship, recreation, and entertainment.

Good growth includes returning to our roots by putting people at the center of their daily activities, and not forcing them into their cars to satisfy every need.
